About PES

The Power & Energy Society (PES)provides the world's largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public. Members of the Power & Energy Society are leaders in this field, and they - and their employers - derive substantial benefits from involvement with this unique and outstanding association.


The function of IEEE Power & Energy Society - Thailand Chapter are to corporate closely with IEEE Thailand Section , to promote and support electrical power and energy transfer and exchange of technical information to IEEE members and Thai engineers, arrange jointly with local utilities and universities on technical seminar, tutorial, workshop and conference in power and energy fields for public interest in Thailand and neighboring countries.


The Mission of PES is :

To be the leading provider of scientific and engineering information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society, and the preferred professional development source for our members ~ Approved by the IEEE PES Governing Board, 17 July 2003


PES' Field of Interest is :

The scope of the Society embraces research, development, planning, design, construction, maintenance, installation and operation of equipment, structures, materials and power systems for the safe, sustainable, economic and reliable conversion, generation, transmission, distribution, storage and usage of electric energy, including its measurement and control.

IEEE PES Outstanding Engineer Award

The Outstanding Engineer Award was established in 1994 by the Power Engineering Society Executive Board to recognize outstanding technical, professional and society contributions on behalf of the power engineer profession. This award gives our Chapter the opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of a local IEEE Power Engineering Society member to the power engineering profession. The recipient of the award receives a plaque courtesy of the IEEE Power Engineering Society headquarters in the USA and this is presented to him/her at our Annual Meeting, which is typically held in Thailand in November each year.

IEEE PES Outstanding Volunteer Award

The IEEE PES Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award (OCVA) program allows each PES Chapter the opportunity to recognize a volunteer’s contribution to the local chapter. This award was initiated by Chapter Leadership and approved in 2015 by the PES Executive Board.

IEEE PES Women in Power (Thailand)

Diversity is essential for any workforce or community. In 2012 we formed the IEEE Power & Energy Society Women in Power committee foster a more diverse leadership by supporting the career advancement, networking and education of women in the energy industry. Our goal is not to simply increase the number of women in the power industry but to promote women into leadership positions as well.

IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award (Thailand)

The IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award was established to recognize engineers 35 years of age or under “for outstanding contributions in the leadership of technical society activities including local and/or transnational PES and other technical societies, leadership in community and humanitarian activities, and evidence of technical competence through significant engineering achievements.
